Rue de la Vanoise street through Champagny-en-Vanoise village in summer

Getting around Champagny and Champagny-le-Haut

Use walking routes for suitable village journeys and the seasonal local shuttle where its timetable fits. Champagny-le-Haut requires its own transport plan; the Moûtiers bus and the local shuttle are separate services.

Separate the three journeys

Journey Starting point for planning
Accommodation to village shops or gondola Actual walking route or a local shuttle stop
Village to Champagny-le-Haut Seasonal local shuttle or a booked road journey
Moûtiers to Champagny Dated valley bus service or taxi

A small distance on a map can include a hill or steps. Ask your host for the practical walking route in the season you visit, especially with skis, children or limited mobility. Do not use the vehicle route as proof of a suitable pedestrian route.

Use the correct seasonal shuttle information

The official Champagny shuttle listing describes free local services within the village and towards Champagny-le-Haut. Named stops include the tourist-office centre and gondola in the village, and La Couaz, La Chiserette, Le Canada and Le Bois in the upper valley.

The listing’s date ranges and downloadable timetables must be checked for the relevant season. They are not a promise of year-round service or late-evening transport. Match both your outward and return trip before committing to an activity or restaurant booking.

Plan beyond the final stop

A shuttle to Le Bois is not confirmation of a connection to every valley trailhead. Ask the activity provider where you must meet and arrange any remaining journey. For a taxi, supply the full address and book the return where needed.

For accessibility, the official shuttle page mentions a driver-operated ramp and a reserved space. Confirm the specific service, boarding conditions and your requirements before relying on it.

Build your arrival separately with the Moûtiers guide. See car-free trip planning or parking advice to decide whether to leave the car parked during the stay.

Common questions

Is the Champagny local shuttle free?

The official listing describes a free seasonal service for visitors and residents. Check the route and timetable valid for your stay.

Can I use the local shuttle to get back to Moûtiers?

The local shuttle and the valley bus are distinct. Use the dated S66 information or book a taxi for the Moûtiers journey.
